Sustainability begins at the source

Cotton acetate is derived from the fibers of the cotton plant as well as from the renewable raw material wood, whose structure contains the resins and natural compounds essential for producing the raw material used in our frames.
The cotton acetate used by Johann von Goisern consists of 72% cotton flakes and wood fibers. This material combines natural origin, wearing comfort, and sustainability. Even the hinges are sourced directly from Austria, from the surrounding region.

The sun as a source of support

For over 40 years, POMBERGER Goisern has produced Johann von Goisern eyewear exclusively in Bad Goisern. An important step toward the future is the use of renewable energy: with more than 350 solar panels and thus the largest photovoltaic system in Bad Goisern, the company now powers a major part of its production with solar energy. In this way, regional craftsmanship is combined with sustainable thinking – for greater independence, responsibility, and a livable future.

Valuable waste heat put to use

Thanks to a heat recovery system, approximately 96% of usable heat can be recovered from 100% of the electrical energy supplied in POMBERGER Goisern’s production facilities and reused for heating the company buildings.
This system utilizes waste heat from compressor units as well as from machines and server rooms, some of which are powered by photovoltaic electricity. As a result, around 50% of the required heating energy is saved, reducing costs while protecting the environment. The ecological footprint of each Johann von Goisern frame is thus significantly reduced.

From Goisern to the world

From Bad Goisern, POMBERGER Goisern ships its eyewear all over the world. Especially within Europe, our partners benefit from short transport routes – complex overseas shipments are avoided, keeping the ecological footprint low. We also focus on conscious solutions in the details: the welcome package for new JvG Club members is sent only upon request, and many fans deliberately choose to forgo it in favor of the environment. The club card has been made of cardboard for several years, and our XXL cleaning cloths and cases are produced from recycled rPET. In this way, we combine international presence with responsible action – step by step.
